Ellewela lake

                                           Ellewela lake

I live in Ellewela area of Matara district. It is a beautiful village. Among them are the grants of lakes, waterfalls and forests. The climate of my village, situated on the edge of the Sinharaja forest, is also in a favorable cold state. Ellewela Lake, located along the border of Sinharaja, is a wonderful gift of nature. This is a lake spread over a large area by a single lake bunt. There is a Buddha statue and a temple in the middle of the temple. Also, there is an ecosystem of various fruits around this lake. Dang, Kajju, Mango, Hibatu, Veralu, Guava are among them. The Sinharaja Basin, which is located on the edge of the lake, has forests and is currently being mined and treasured by various political parties. A lot of people also run the lamp industry here and it's scary because it requires a lot of money. According to the opinion of the villagers, it is said that there is a harvest here for a year

Also, this will improve the agriculture in our area and in the meantime, paddy cultivation will be promoted. Due to the water flowing from this lake, waterfalls have been created and it is very beautiful. This is a place that brings joy to the people of our area and many people come here to bathe and have fun. In fact, this is an ideal place to develop tourism, but such an activity has not been developed until now. In my village, these places are not well known and that's why they are still hidden natural creations. That itself has perhaps led to the increase in this beauty of my village. The people of the village cross this lake by rafts and it is a very adventurous journey.                                                Because you can't imagine the volume of the lake. However, it is my great joy and pride that my village is full of such strangeness.
